12-year-old Malone boy arrested after fleeing police in stolen vehicle

PLATTSBURGH — Members of the New York State Police arrested a 12-year-old boy from Malone for unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle on Oct. 7.

He was also issued vehicle and traffic tickets.

At 8 p.m. on the same day, troopers were notified of a stolen vehicle complaint that the Malone Police Department was investigating.

The stolen vehicle was identified as a 2025 white Chevrolet Silverado.

Troopers located the vehicle turning left onto State Route 22 in the town of Plattsburgh.

When the troopers initiated a traffic stop, the driver failed to comply, which led to a pursuit.

As another trooper approached the suspect vehicle from the opposite direction, the vehicle pulled over to the west shoulder and came to a stop.

Troopers identified the driver as a 12-year-old boy from Malone.

He was transported to SP Plattsburgh for processing.

His guardian was contacted, and he was released on a Family Court Appearance Ticket.

He was later turned over to the Malone Police Department.
