Man arrested on gun charges after traffic stop in North Providence

NORTH PROVIDENCE — A 25-year-old Woonsocket man was arrested on firearms charges after a traffic stop on Mineral Spring Avenue on Oct. 8.

Kyle Mumford was pulled over by a North Providence police officer for not wearing a seat belt, according to a police press release.

Police discovered Mumford was driving with a suspended license.

During a vehicle inventory search, officers found two firearms hidden in the car.

A fully loaded Colt .45mm with a 10-round magazine containing hollow point ammunition was found underneath the front driver seat floorboard.

Officers also recovered a Taurus revolver fully loaded with six rounds of .38 special ammunition underneath the passenger seat.

Mumford was arrested for possession of two firearms without a license or permit.
