HOMER — A 53-year-old Homer man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in what authorities are investigating as a homicide.

Anthony T. Beecham was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a driveway near Grove Street and State Route 281 at approximately 3:22 a.m. Oct. 8.

Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and Village of Homer Police Department initially responded to a report of a subject possibly having cardiac arrest.

Upon arrival, officers found Beecham in the driveway and immediately began life-saving measures until TLC ambulance service arrived.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office believes this to be an isolated incident.

Through preliminary investigation, authorities believe a dark-colored vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed.

The Village of Homer Police Department, New York State Police, TLC, Cortland County Coroner’s Office and Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
