Tree strikes car on Vermont Route 30 in Newfane

NEWFANE — A falling tree struck a vehicle traveling north on Vermont Route 30 on Oct. 8 at approximately 1:33 p.m., according to Vermont State Police.

The driver, Brittney S. Book, 52, of Townshend, was wearing a seat belt and sustained no injuries in the incident.

Book was driving a 2018 BMW X1 when the tree fell and struck her vehicle, causing moderate damage.

The fallen tree blocked both travel lanes, temporarily closing the roadway while emergency crews cleared debris.

The road was reopened after a brief period.

Weather conditions were clear with dry road conditions at the time of the incident.

Vermont State Police from the Westminster Barracks responded to the scene.

Assisting agencies included Newbrook Fire and Rescue, Vermont Agency of Transportation, Windham County Sheriff’s Department and Scott Brooks Towing.
