Owego police report 7 arrests, including 3 juveniles in laundromat burglary

OWEGO — The Owego Police Department reported seven arrests during the week of Sept. 29 through Oct. 5, including three juveniles connected to a laundromat burglary.

Police responded to 160 calls for service and investigated nine motor vehicle accidents during the week.

A 12-year-old Owego juvenile was arrested for conspiracy in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor, following an investigation of a burglary at the laundromat on North Avenue.

Two 14-year-old Owego juveniles were each arrested for burglary in the third degree, a class D felony, in connection with the same laundromat incident.

All three juveniles were issued appearance tickets returnable to Tioga County Probation.

Justin J. Leyden, 37, of Owego, was arrested twice for petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

The first arrest followed an investigation of shoplifting at CVS on Park Street.

The second arrest was connected to shoplifting at Mirabito on North Avenue.

Leyden was issued appearance tickets returnable to Village of Owego Court for both charges.

A 25-year-old Owego man was taken into custody for a mental health hold after reports he was a danger to himself and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

A 64-year-old Owego woman was also taken into custody for a mental health hold after reports she was a danger to herself and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Police issued one traffic ticket during the week.
