WATERTOWN — Police are asking for the public’s help locating video surveillance and an abandoned vehicle in connection with a burglary arrest linked to a death investigation in Waterbury.
Watertown police responded to the area of Lake Winnemaug Road and Sperry Road for a burglary report at approximately 6:50 a.m. Oct. 7.
Officers arrested a Black male, approximately 25 years old, wearing a dark T-shirt and light gray sweatpants near the Lake Winnemaug Boat Launch at Lake Winnemaug Road and Caruso Drive.
The suspect is potentially involved in a death investigation from the previous night in Waterbury, police said.
The man remains in Watertown police custody.
Police believe the suspect discarded a backpack, sneakers and a white Ford Escape with license plate BR69909 in the Lake Winnemaug area or surrounding neighborhoods.
The white Ford Escape potentially entered Watertown via Watertown Road from Middlebury, then traveled on Middlebury Road and possibly Sand Bank Road or Bunker Hill Road between 5 p.m. Oct. 6 and 6:50 a.m. Oct. 7.
Police are requesting any video surveillance showing the vehicle or the suspect walking in the area.
The suspect may have been in cornfields near Lake Winnemaug Road, according to police.
Anyone who finds discarded items should not handle them and should contact Watertown police immediately.
