Utica man arrested on drug charges after police find cocaine

UTICA — A 48-year-old Utica man was arrested Oct. 3 after police found cocaine during a search following his apprehension on outstanding warrants.

Jeremiah Gary was located by Crime Prevention Unit officers while walking on the 1100 block of Elm Street.

Gary was taken into custody without incident on the outstanding warrants.

During a search after his arrest, officers found a folded bill containing a white substance consistent with cocaine in his pocket.

Officers also located several corner knotted baggies containing a similar white substance.

Gary was transported to the Utica Police Department for processing and then to the Oneida County Jail.

Jail intake officers later discovered an additional large quantity of presumed cocaine that Gary had concealed on his person.

Utica police officers responded to the jail and took possession of the contraband.

Gary was charged with his outstanding warrants for open container of an alcoholic beverage and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

New charges include criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree for sale and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
