BARNARD — Vermont State Police arrested a 25-year-old transient man on multiple charges including domestic assault and fugitive from justice Monday morning.
Mark Sutton Jr. was taken into custody at 11:37 a.m. on Stackpole Road after police responded to reports of an assault in a moving vehicle on Vermont Route 107 in Bethel.
Police said Sutton was found to have an active extraditable arrest warrant from New Hampshire.
Investigation revealed Sutton committed negligent operation and domestic assault against a 22-year-old Northfield woman, according to police.
Sutton was also found to be in violation of court-ordered conditions of release and in possession of a controlled substance, police said.
He was transported to the Royalton Barracks for processing and issued a citation to appear in Windsor County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Oct. 7 at 12:30 p.m.
Sutton was later transported to Southern State Correctional Facility where he was held on $90,000 bail.
