Poultney crash sends 2 to hospitals

POULTNEY — Vermont State Police are investigating a motorcycle and SUV crash that sent two people to hospitals Oct. 4.

The collision occurred at approximately 12:27 p.m. at East Main Street and Beaman Street under clear weather and road conditions.

Richard LaRouche, 48, of Poultney was operating a 2019 Harley Davidson Street Glide motorcycle.

Sherry Reed, 62, of Middletown Springs was driving a 2021 Jeep Cherokee.

LaRouche was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with suspected serious injuries.

Reed was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.

The motorcycle sustained significant damage and was totaled, while the Jeep had moderate front-end damage.

Reed was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, but LaRouche was not wearing protective gear.

The crash remains under investigation by Vermont State Police from the Rutland Barracks.

Police are asking any witnesses who have not yet spoken to investigators to call 802-773-9101.
