3 arrested by Rhode Island State Police over weekend

LINCOLN — Rhode Island State Police arrested four people on various charges over the weekend, including domestic violence and driving under the influence violations.

On Friday at 5:35 p.m., troopers arrested Brian Pontarelli, 53, of Lincoln, for domestic violence involving an electronic tracking device and motor vehicle.

The arrest resulted from a barracks investigation, with Pontarelli taken into custody at his residence.

On Saturday at 12:53 a.m., troopers arrested Roger Vaughan, 64, of Smithfield, following a motor vehicle stop on Twin River Road in Lincoln.

Vaughan was charged with driving under the influence with unknown blood alcohol content, refusal to submit to a chemical test and possession of prohibited weapons other than firearms.

At 2:07 a.m. Saturday, troopers arrested Peter Soares, 57, of Seekonk, Massachusetts, during a motor vehicle stop on Plain Street in Providence.

Soares was charged as a fugitive from justice on two Massachusetts warrants — one from Seekonk Police for larceny and another from Wareham Police for burglary.

Pontarelli, Vaughan and Costa were processed at Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned and released pending future court dates at Third Division District Court.

Soares was processed at Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned and transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution Intake Center.
