GREENWICH — At approximately 5:16 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, the Greenwich Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision near the entrance of Byram Park, located at 4 Ritch Avenue West.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the involved vehicle had caught fire.
Greenwich Fire Department and Greenwich Emergency Medical Service personnel responded to the scene.
GFD extinguished the fire.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Greenwich Police Department’s Traffic Division is currently conducting a full investigation into the cause of the crash.
The area surrounding the park’s front entrance remains closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic as the investigation continues.
Members of the public are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice.
Access to Byram Park via the main entrance at Ritch Avenue West will remain temporarily closed while officers remain on scene.
