WORCESTER — A ShotSpotter activation alerted officers to shots fired on Piedmont Street on Sept. 26 where several rounds were recovered.
A juvenile was arrested Oct. 2 in connection with the incident.
He is charged with armed assault to murder.
Also on Oct. 2, members of the Worcester Police Department’s Gang Unit and Crime Gun Intelligence Unit were in possession of a search warrant for a residence on Preston Street in connection with the Sept. 26 incident.
At approximately 3:02 p.m., the SWAT Team, Gang Unit and Crime Gun Intelligence Unit made entry to the residence.
A search revealed an untraceable ghost gun with a machine gun conversion kit and loaded magazine.
An investigation linked 18-year-old Alexander Cruz-Abreau to the items.
He was later taken into custody on Piedmont Street.
Cruz-Abreau is charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a machine gun, possession of ammunition without FID and improper storage of a firearm.
