Peterborough pedestrian struck by pickup truck at intersection

PETERBOROUGH — A 79-year-old woman was struck by a pickup truck Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Wilton Road and Grove Street.

Peterborough Police and Peterborough Fire & Rescue responded to the motor vehicle vs pedestrian collision at approximately 4:55 p.m. Oct. 1.

Officers found a 2004 Chevrolet 2500HD pickup truck in the center of the four-way intersection at Route 101 and Route 202.

Nancy Salmon of Peterborough was found unresponsive in the roadway, exhibiting agonal breathing.

Preliminary investigation and witness statements indicated the pickup truck was traveling westbound on Wilton Road with a green light when it initiated a left turn onto Grove Street southbound.

The vehicle struck Salmon, who was in the travel portion of the roadway during the collision.

Peterborough Fire & Rescue personnel began life-saving measures immediately upon arrival.

Salmon was transported to Elliot Hospital in Manchester for medical treatment.

The driver was identified as Colin Gatlin, 22, of Hillsborough.

As of 9 p.m. Wednesday, Salmon was in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision remains under investigation by the Peterborough Police Department.
