Mansfield police investigate crash after car strikes 2 pedestrians on sidewalk

MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Police Department responded to a motor-vehicle crash involving two pedestrians Tuesday morning.

At 9:47 a.m., the Mansfield Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 108 Oakland St. for a reported crash involving two pedestrians, a male and a female.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a driver in a white 2012 Honda Accord drove up onto the sidewalk, striking the pedestrians.

Mansfield Fire Department crews and Mansfield Police Department Patrol, Traffic and Detective Units responded.

After assessing both patients, Fire Department personnel determined that due to a head injury the male pedestrian would be transported by Boston MedFlight to Rhode Island Hospital.

The female pedestrian was transported by Mansfield Fire Department ambulance to Boston Medical Center — South.
The driver was evaluated by EMS but did not require further medical attention.

Mansfield Police Crash Reconstructionist Officer David Kinahan was on the scene and leading an investigation into the crash.
