SOUTH WINDSOR — Police arrested a Hartford man Wednesday on charges stemming from a 2022 motor vehicle theft at a local home improvement store.

Sergio Lira, 28, was taken into custody at 5:39 p.m. on an active arrest warrant, according to the South Windsor Police Department.

The charges stem from a November 2022 larceny of a motor vehicle from the parking lot at Lowes at 31 Buckland Hills Drive.

DNA evidence found in the stolen vehicle linked Lira to the theft, police said.

Lira was arrested by the East Hartford Police Department and transferred to South Windsor police custody.

He was processed and held on a $75,000 surety bond.

Lira is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court Thursday at 9 a.m.
