Bronx man faces drug, stolen property charges after interstate traffic stop

NEW PALTZ — A Bronx man was arrested Monday morning after state police discovered drugs and a stolen vehicle during a traffic stop on Interstate 87.

At approximately 11:11 a.m. on Sept. 29, a member of the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit observed a 2025 Nissan committing multiple traffic violations while traveling northbound.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Robert Brown, 39, of the Bronx.

Police determined Brown was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and that the Nissan had been reported stolen.

Brown was taken into custody without incident.

A search of his person yielded approximately 101 grams of cocaine and 38 grams of MDMA.

A subsequent vehicle search revealed approximately 2.89 grams of fentanyl.

Brown was transported to State Police Highland for processing.

He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second, third and seventh degrees.

Additional charges include criminal possession of stolen property in the third and fourth degrees.

Brown also faces multiple counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia and various vehicle and traffic law violations.

He was transported to Ulster County Jail for centralized arraignment.

Brown was remanded without bail.

He is scheduled to appear in Town of New Paltz Court on Oct. 1.
