WESTFIELD — Vermont State Police arrested a 44-year-old Lowell man on suspicion of driving under the influence after a single-vehicle crash on Route 100 near Buck Hill Road on Sunday evening.
Michael Cheney Jr. was driving a 2022 Ram 1500 when he crashed at approximately 5:08 p.m., according to police.
Cheney sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to North Country Hospital.
Troy Fire Department and Newport Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
Police said investigations revealed that prior to the crash, Cheney had gone off the road and damaged property belonging to Ethan Bathalon, 35, of Westfield, then left the scene.
Investigators determined Cheney was under the influence of narcotics and alcohol at the time of the crash.
Cheney was processed at North Country Hospital and later released on a citation to appear in Orleans County Superior Court.
He faces charges of driving under the influence, negligent operation and leaving the scene of an accident.
Road conditions were dry and weather was clear at the time of the incident.
