BATH — Officers were dispatched to Hatfield’s Cash and Carry on Gansevoort Street for a male shoplifting on Sept. 29 at approximately 2:31 p.m.
The male was located on East Washington Street in possession of the shoplifted property.
While attempting to take the male into custody for petit larceny, the male physically resisted, resulting in a brief struggle.
The male was taken into custody and identified as Sean A. Grace, age 37, of Elmira.
Grace was transported to Bath Police Department for processing where he was released on an appearance ticket and is due in Bath Village Court at a later date.
Grace is charged with petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor, and resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor.
Grace is a three time convicted felon, currently residing in the Village of Bath under the supervision of New York State Parole.
Grace was most recently convicted of criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree for possessing a loaded firearm in Chemung County Court in January 2020.
Grace served five years in prison before being paroled to the Village of Bath.
