North Tonawanda man fires shots into air after restaurant fight

NORTH TONAWANDA — The North Tonawanda Police Department responded to 58 Webster Street at approximately 2:51 a.m. Sept. 28 for a report of shots fired with one person possibly struck by gunfire.

Officers arrived to find a large crowd outside the restaurant and a man on the ground.

Investigation determined the man was not shot but had been involved in a physical altercation inside the restaurant that spilled into the street.

Witnesses told police an unknown male fired several shots into the air and fled the scene after the fight moved outside.

North Tonawanda detectives processed the scene and recovered spent shell casings.

Police do not believe anyone was struck by gunfire.

The City of Tonawanda Police, Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police and Wheatfield Town Constables assisted at the scene.
