LITCHFIELD — State Police responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on State Route 51 on Sept. 27 at approximately 1:40 p.m.
A preliminary investigation determined that the male operator of the motorcycle was traveling southbound on State Route 51 at an unsafe speed.
The operator failed to negotiate a turn and subsequently exited the roadway on the east shoulder, striking a tree.
The motorcycle became fully engulfed in flames upon impact.
The operator was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
