Providence police arrest 3 in overnight traffic stops

PROVIDENCE — State police arrested four men during overnight traffic stops on various charges including obstructing officers and driving under the influence.

Troopers arrested Stanley Lubin, 41, of Providence, at 11:51 p.m. for obstructing an officer in execution of duty during a motor vehicle stop on Chalkstone Street.

At the same time, troopers also arrested James Johnson, 30, of Providence, for obstructing an officer in execution of duty during the same traffic stop on Chalkstone Street.

Both Lubin and Johnson were transported to the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks where they were processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and released with future Sixth Division District Court dates.

At 4:06 a.m., troopers arrested Joseph Bermudez Colon, 24, of Cranston, during a traffic stop on Main Avenue in Pawtucket.

Bermudez Colon was charged with a Superior Court full bench warrant for failure to appear for a technical violation hearing on an original charge of driving without consent of owner from Providence Police Department, possession of a Schedule I to V controlled substance less than 10 grams, and obstructing an officer in execution of duty.

Bermudez Colon was transported to the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed, and held overnight pending morning arraignment at Sixth Division District Court.
