Man arrested in armed robbery at Sunoco station in Highland

HIGHLAND — A 56-year-old Poughkeepsie man was arrested Sept. 25 on an arrest warrant for multiple charges including three counts of first-degree robbery in connection with an armed robbery at a Highland gas station.

Hans M. Altidor was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree reckless endangerment and petit larceny, according to Town of Lloyd Police.

Police allege that on July 22 at approximately 3:16 a.m., Altidor entered the Sunoco Station on Route 9W in Highland armed with a firearm.

While in the store, he discharged one round from the firearm and stole cash from the register before fleeing the scene, police said.

Altidor has six prior armed robbery arrests, according to police.

He was arraigned before Town of Lloyd Judge Elia and remanded to the Orange County Jail, where he is being held on another robbery charge.

Altidor is scheduled to return to Town of Lloyd Court on Dec. 18.

Lloyd Police were assisted by Town of Newburgh Police, New York State Police, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Department and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
