MADISON — New York State Police arrested James Austin B. Fleckenstein, 26, of Madison, on Sept. 25 on charges related to child sexual exploitation material.
Fleckenstein faces two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a Class D felony, and two counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child, a Class E felony.
The charges stem from an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force search warrant related to the transmission of child sexual exploitation material via the internet.
The arrest resulted from a joint investigation by members of the State Police Computer Crime Unit – Troop D, the Troop D Bureau of Criminal Investigation – Oneida, the NYSP ICAC Unit in Albany, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
Fleckenstein was arraigned in the Town of Madison Court and was released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 6 at 5 p.m.
