Greenwich man shot confronting car theft suspects, teen arrested

GREENWICH — Officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle theft and injured individual on the west side of town Tuesday at approximately 4:55 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from injuries to his lower extremities.

The victim reported confronting suspects involved in the theft of a vehicle during which one of the suspects discharged a firearm, resulting in minor injuries to the victim.

The stolen vehicle was later located in Bridgeport with assistance from the Bridgeport Police Department.

During the follow-up investigation, officers recovered a firearm, a shell casing, and other related evidence.

On Wednesday, Greenwich detectives, in coordination with the Bridgeport Police Department, served an active felony arrest warrant on Jayden Ganthier, 18, at his residence in Bridgeport.

Ganthier was arrested and charged with commission of a Class A, B, or C felony with a firearm; larceny in the first degree; illegal discharge of a firearm; illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle; robbery in the first degree; assault in the first degree; illegal alteration of a firearm; and reckless endangerment in the first degree.
