Albany, NY man charged with murder in Sheridan Avenue stabbing

ALBANY — A 36-year-old Albany man has been charged in connection with a homicide that occurred early Thursday morning on Sheridan Avenue near Henry Johnson Boulevard.

Around 6:10 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the 300 block of Sheridan Avenue near Henry Johnson Boulevard for reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located 29-year-old Devin Brevard of Albany outside, between two buildings, with stab wounds to the abdomen.

Brevard was treated on scene by the Albany fire department and emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Through investigation, members from the Albany police department determined and identified 36-year-old Anthony Boyd of Albany as the individual responsible for stabbing Brevard in the abdomen.

Boyd was taken into custody around 3:20 p.m. in the area of First Street and Lexington Avenue.

Boyd has been charged with one count of Murder 2nd and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court Friday morning.
