Tewksbury man charged with drug distribution after month-long investigation

TEWKSBURY — A 57-year-old Tewksbury man was arrested on drug possession and distribution charges following a month-long investigation by local police.

David MacKinnon was charged with distribution of a Class B drug and possession with intent to distribute of a Class B drug.

The Tewksbury Police Department Narcotics Unit was notified Aug. 29 of suspected drug activity in the area of Ferncroft Road.

Police determined MacKinnon had been selling narcotics from his residence on Ferncroft Road, with assistance from the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation.

Officers observed what appeared to be a drug transaction between MacKinnon and another person Monday, Sept. 22.

MacKinnon was arrested without incident.

A 60-year-old man from Nashua will be summonsed on charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Police executed a search warrant at the residence and recovered 2 grams of cocaine, items believed to be drug packaging materials, and cash.

MacKinnon was arraigned at Lowell District Court Wednesday and will be held without bail.
