ST. JOHNSBURY — A 16-year-old male driver from Lyndon failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a tree Monday evening, injuring all five occupants of the vehicle.
The crash occurred at 5:04 p.m. at the intersection of Crepeault Hill Road and Old Bradley Road during light rain conditions.
Vermont State Police said the 2008 Honda Accord was traveling west on Old Bradley Road when the driver failed to stop at the stop sign at Crepeault Hill Road.
The vehicle crossed Crepeault Hill Road and struck a large tree before coming to rest in a field.
The 16-year-old driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries and was not hospitalized.
A 14-year-old male passenger from Lyndon who was wearing a seat belt sustained minor injuries and was not hospitalized.
A 14-year-old female passenger from Lyndon who was not wearing a seat belt sustained minor injuries and was not hospitalized.
Raylyn Collins, 22, of St. Johnsbury, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
Aiden Anderson, 18, of St. Johnsbury, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Police said speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
St. Johnsbury Fire Department, CALEX and Lyndon Rescue responded to the scene along with Vermont State Police.
