JERICHO — A 62-year-old Roosevelt man has been arrested on rape and sexual abuse charges stemming from incidents that occurred between March 2022 and Sept. 12.
Steven Harrison was charged with third-degree rape, first-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent physically disabled person and second-degree sexual abuse.
According to detectives, Harrison was employed as a van driver by the Association for the Help of Retarded Children.
Police said Harrison would stop at the Home Depot parking lot at 86 Jericho Turnpike while driving a female victim home as part of his route.
The inappropriate sexual contact began in March 2022 when the victim was 24 years old, police said.
On Sept. 18, the victim, now 27, informed a family member of the encounters, who then reported the incidents to police.
Harrison was arrested without incident on Sept. 23 at the AHRC facility at 189 Wheatley Road in Brookville.
