Oxford police arrest Webster man after property damage incident on Main Street

OXFORD — The Oxford Police Department arrested a Webster man Tuesday night after he allegedly damaged property on Main Street and fled the scene.

Police received a 911 call at approximately 10:25 p.m. Sept. 23 reporting property damage at a home on Main Street.

Responding officers learned that the suspect, identified as Michael Walsh of Webster, had allegedly smashed a window on a vehicle and a nearby residence before fleeing.

A vehicle on the property also sustained damage.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspect running from the area.

A coordinated search began with assistance from K9 units from Charlton and Auburn Police Departments.

Walsh was located walking on Main Street a short time later and was taken into custody without incident.

A baseball bat believed to have been used in the damage was recovered as evidence.

Walsh faces charges of malicious destruction of property and threats to commit a crime.

Bail was set at $7,500.

Walsh is scheduled to appear in court later today.
