MARSHFIELD — A 40-year-old Plainfield man died Tuesday night when his motorcycle crashed on US Route 2 near Onion River Road.
Christopher Skinner was riding a 2004 Suzuki GSX600FK eastbound on US Route 2 at approximately 9:32 p.m. when the motorcycle took a left curve too wide, according to Vermont State Police.
The motorcycle left the roadway and collided with road signs, a guardrail and a parked vehicle.
Skinner was ejected from the motorcycle and found unresponsive when troopers from the Berlin Barracks arrived at the scene.
CPR was initiated, but Skinner was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS despite lifesaving efforts.
The motorcycle was totaled and came to rest on the southern side of the roadway.
Road conditions were wet and foggy at the time of the crash.
Police said Skinner was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation.
