MARATHON — A 43-year-old woman faces felony charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a two-car accident while intoxicated Sept. 18.
Krystal L. Potter of Route 11 in Marathon was arrested at 4:45 p.m. after Cortland County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a property damage accident on Cortland Street in the Village of Marathon around 4 p.m.
Deputies discovered Potter had left the scene in the vehicle she was operating.
Potter was located a short time later still driving the same vehicle.
Officers determined Potter was driving while intoxicated and while her driving privileges were suspended, according to the sheriff’s office.
Potter was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, a felony, and driving while intoxicated, also a felony.
She also faces several infractions including failure to comply with a lawful order, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, speed not reasonable and prudent, drove across hazard markings, no stopping/standing/parking on a highway, unlicensed operator and inadequate muffler.
Potter was transported to the Public Safety Building for processing.
She was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 p.m. Sept. 18 and released on her own recognizance.
Potter’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in Marathon Town Court.
