POUGHKEEPSIE — A 41-year-old Queens man was arrested Sept. 11 after attempting to flee through a window during a drug raid at a residence off North Bridge Street.
Derrick Ensley was charged with criminal possession of controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, a class B felony, following the execution of a search warrant by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force.
The investigation began after agents developed intelligence about a suspected dealer operating in the area and received numerous community complaints about suspected drug activity at the location.
Agents conducted multiple purchases of fentanyl and cocaine from Ensley during the investigation, which led to securing the search warrant.
The Drug Task Force, assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit and the Poughkeepsie Police SWAT Team, executed the warrant.
Tactical officers apprehended Ensley without incident after he attempted to escape through a window.
The search resulted in the seizure of large quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, drug packaging materials, U.S. currency, digital scales and other items associated with narcotics distribution.
Ensley was remanded to Dutchess County Jail with no bail.
The operation involved collaboration between multiple agencies including the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, City and Town of Poughkeepsie Police Departments, City of Beacon Police Department, Town of Hyde Park Police Department, Town of East Fishkill Police Department, Town of Fishkill Police Department and the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit.
