MEREDITH — A 43-year-old East Meredith resident was arrested Friday on charges of menacing two utility workers with a shotgun while they attempted to make electrical repairs.

Dylan M. Bassani faces two counts of menacing in the second degree following an investigation by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on the evening of Sept. 17 when NYSEG utility workers were attempting to make electrical repairs at an address on Turnpike Road in the Town of Meredith.

Sheriff Craig S. DuMond said the workers reported that Bassani confronted them before they began work and allegedly displayed a shotgun in an attempt to intimidate them.

The complainants filed their complaint with the Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 18, and deputies began investigating.

On Sept. 19, sheriff’s deputies applied for and were granted an Extreme Risk Protection Order through Delaware County Supreme Court.

Bassani was located and arrested at his residence Friday, and the firearm allegedly used in the incident was recovered.

He was transported to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office for processing and later released on an appearance ticket.

Bassani is scheduled to appear before the Town of Meredith Court at a later date to answer the charges.
