NEWINGTON — Newington police officers arrested a 21-year-old Somers man Sept. 22 after a police dog detected narcotics in a vehicle that was subject to a statewide attempt to locate alert.

Officers on routine patrol in the area of Stoddard Avenue at approximately 9:01 p.m. observed a 2020 Dodge Challenger that was subject to an official attempt to locate message from the Connecticut State Police.

The vehicle was known to engage police officers from multiple agencies in pursuit.

Officers from the Newington Police Department, with assistance from West Hartford police, maintained active surveillance on the vehicle until an opportunity to safely stop it presented itself.
