Utica police arrest suspect in unprovoked assault

UTICA — Police took a report of an unprovoked assault on the 1400 block of Genesee St. around 8 p.m. on Aug. 19.

The attack left the victim with several facial fractures and continuing effects.

Following several public requests for assistance, a tip aided by the Mohawk Valley Crime Analysis Center led to the identification of a suspect.

Patrol units located and the Criminal Investigations Division charged Mohamed Momoh, 24, of Utica, on Sept. 22.

He was charged with assault in the third degree.
