Springfield police seize 2 ATVs in off-highway vehicle enforcement

SPRINGFIELD — Members of the Springfield Police Department conducted Off-Highway-Vehicle enforcement across the city on Saturday, Sept. 20.

The enforcement detail led to the seizure of two four-wheel ATVs.

Officers conducted directed patrols in parks and follow-up investigations related to suspected illegal dirt bike or OHV activity on city streets throughout the day.

Police also conducted two traffic stops during the operation.

Around 1:40 p.m., officers observed a blue four-wheeler being driven illegally in the Woodmont Street area.

Officers approached the rider, who was not wearing a helmet, when he stopped on Denton Street.

The adult male rider will receive a criminal complaint to court, and the ATV was seized.

Around 3 p.m., officers saw a juvenile female without a helmet riding a red ATV on Hancock Street.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on Hancock Street.

The juvenile female rider will receive a criminal complaint and the ATV was seized.
