Auburn man arrested after trail cameras capture alleged theft

SENNETT — The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 67-year-old Auburn man on a petit larceny charge last week.

Sheriff Brian Schenck reported that Phillip J. Daniels was arrested at 10:09 a.m. on Sept. 19.

Deputies had responded to a larceny complaint on East Genesee Street Road at approximately 9:16 a.m. that day.

A victim reported that several trail cameras had been stolen from a field near Sennett Meadows Apartment.

The stolen trail cameras were capable of sending immediate video and photos to the owner.

Daniels was identified as a suspect and was found in possession of the cameras.

The alleged theft was captured on video by the cameras.

Daniels was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Sennett Town Court on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.
