Rhode Island man arrested on drug charge in Richmond

HOPE VALLEY — A Rhode Island man was arrested Friday afternoon on a drug possession charge following a traffic stop in Richmond.

Troopers from the Hope Valley Barracks took Tyler W. Carter, 28, of Providence, into custody at 3 p.m. on Sept. 19.

He was charged with possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance under 10 grams, specifically cocaine.

The arrest occurred after a motor vehicle stop on Baker Pines Road.

Carter was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks for processing.

He was arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with a notice to appear in Fourth Division District Court.

The case is being handled by the Rhode Island State Police.
