UTICA — An Oneida County Grand Jury returned an indictment for murder in the second degree Sept. 18 related to the July 4 homicide of Rogereale Howard that occurred near the intersection of James Street and Howard Avenue.
Members of the NY/NJ US Marshals Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Jarian Loveday, 20, of Utica, on Sept. 18.
Through the investigation, police determined that Loveday fired the weapon that resulted in the death of Howard.
Additional details about the circumstances surrounding his death will be released as the court process continues.
