LYNDONVILLE — A 54-year-old Northfield man was arrested Thursday night after leading police on a chase that ended when officers deployed tire deflation devices.

Eric J. Swiech was taken into custody at 10:37 p.m. Sept. 18 after his vehicle was disabled near McDonald’s on Broad Street.

The Lyndonville Police Department had received a be-on-the-lookout alert for a vehicle that had eluded another police agency while leaving the St. Johnsbury area.

Officers located the vehicle driving on Memorial Drive, but it failed to yield to a patrol officer displaying emergency equipment.

Officer Trucott deployed tire deflation devices to halt the vehicle.

The chase continued until the disabled vehicle stopped near the McDonald’s restaurant.

Officer Gerrish arrested Swiech and transported him back to the originating police agency.

Swiech was issued a citation into Caledonia Superior Court for eluding law enforcement with an arraignment scheduled for Oct. 20 at 8:30 a.m.

B&B Towing of Lyndon removed the vehicle from the scene.
