Greenburgh man arrested on weapon charges after traffic stop

GREENBURGH — State Police assigned to Troop T arrested Branden J. Muniz, 24 of Walnutport, Pennsylvania, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, along with Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. Sept. 18, Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with Pennsylvania plates that was traveling eastbound on Interstate 287, in the Town of Greenburgh, for unsafe lane changes and a tinted windshield.

The driver and sole occupant was identified as Muniz.

Further investigation revealed Muniz illegally possessed a loaded Palmetto State Armory Dagger Compact 9mm handgun within the vehicle, which was seized.

Muniz was arrested and transported to the SP Tarrytown barracks for processing and subsequently arraigned in Greenburgh Town Court.

The vehicle was impounded.

Muniz faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon-2nd Degree: Loaded Firearm; Criminal Possession Weapon-3rd Degree: Ammunition Feeding Device; Moved From Lane Unsafely; and Equip Violation: Windows Nontransparent.
