Traffic stop in Plympton leads to firearm, drug charges

PLYMPTON — Plympton officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Center Street on Sept. 16 after a registration inquiry revealed a failed inspection on the vehicle.

During the stop, officers observed weapons and drug paraphernalia in plain view.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered an unloaded firearm, a large knife, a loaded magazine, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a large sum of cash.

The operator, identified as Tyler Currier, was placed under arrest without further incident.

The following charges were filed against Currier: possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (cocaine), possession of a Class B substance (cocaine), carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm without an FID card, and possession of a large capacity firearm in the commission of a felony.

Evidence recovered included over $3,500 in cash, baggies of cocaine, a large fixed-blade knife, a firearm, a loaded magazine, and drug packaging materials.

Currier was booked at the Plympton Police Department and held after bail was set at $2,500.

He was transported to Plymouth County Safe Keep when he was unable to post bail.
