BOSTON — Mattapan officers arrested two Dorchester residents and recovered a loaded firearm during a Tuesday morning patrol, Boston Police Department officials said.
Ariannky Soto, 26, and Anyi Perez, 30, were arrested on multiple firearm and drug-related charges around 1:00 a.m. on Sept. 16.
Officers assigned to District B-3 observed two individuals loitering in an alley next to 9 Charlotte Street.
As officers approached, the two individuals quickly walked toward a nearby apartment building.
One individual appeared to be reaching into his pocket and grabbing at his waistband, prompting further attention from the officers.
Police stopped the individual as he attempted to enter the building, while the other was detained near the side of the property.
Responding officers located a firearm in the front yard of 15 Charlotte Street and handcuffed all three individuals.
While one suspect was being placed in a cruiser for transport, officers noticed him manipulating an item in his hands.
Upon removal from the vehicle on scene, officers observed a white powdery substance on the suspect’s hands.
District B-3 detectives were called to the scene to assist in processing evidence.
The recovered firearm was identified as a Beretta Pietro, loaded with seven rounds in the magazine.
Further investigation revealed that two of the suspects had active arrest warrants.
Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
Soto faces charges of carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and a warrant for various motor vehicle law violations.
Perez faces charges of possession of class B substance and a warrant for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
