Springfield police seize firearm, drugs in Vinton Street raid

SPRINGFIELD — Members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit executed an arrest and search warrant at a home on the 0-100 block of Vinton Street on Friday at approximately 7 a.m.

The operation involved FIU detectives under the direction of Lieutenant Jaime Bruno, the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Massachusetts State Police VFAS.

Four suspects were arrested during the raid.

Seven individuals, including three children ranging in age from 11 months to nine years, were inside the home.

FIU detectives and Massachusetts State Police VFAS had been investigating an incident involving suspect Doughlas Moss over the past two months.

Detectives applied for and were granted a warrant for Moss’s arrest.

Moss also had an active warrant for violating his probation in an unrelated case.

Moss was located and placed under arrest during the warrant execution.

During the search for Moss, detectives observed a firearm inside a bedroom.

Detectives then applied for and were granted a search warrant for the home.

The search recovered a loaded large capacity firearm, two firearm magazines, seven bags of heroin, 12 wrapped rocks of crack-cocaine, more than $700 in cash and a baby bottle filled with a potentially dangerous prescription drug.

The firearm’s serial number was obliterated.

Danny Ramos, 42, of Springfield was arrested on drug charges.

Ramos has had 58 adult arraignments in Massachusetts and convictions on drug distribution charges.

The firearm was located in a room shared by Luis Yantin, 20, and Netyaliz Collazo, 19.

Both were placed under arrest on firearms charges.

Yantin is charged with possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, improper storage of a large capacity firearm near a minor, reckless endangerment of a child, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number and possession of a Class B drug.

Collazo faces the same charges as Yantin.

Ramos is charged with possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug – subsequent offense, possession with the intent to distribute a Class D drug and conspiracy to violate drug law.

Moss, 22, of Springfield is charged with two arrest warrants.
