OWASCO — An 18-year-old Cortland woman was arrested Sept. 12 on a warrant charging her with third-degree assault stemming from a fight during the July 3 fireworks at Emerson Park.

Salina L. Losaw-Marshall was taken into custody by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Cayuga County Public Safety Building for processing.

The arrest warrant was issued after deputies investigated a fight that occurred around 10:48 p.m. July 3 in the parking lot at 6879 E. Lake Rd. as vehicles were leaving the fireworks display.

According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, Losaw-Marshall and the victim were involved in a verbal argument when Losaw-Marshall exited the vehicle she was riding in and punched the victim in the face.

Both parties were interviewed at the scene and released that night.

Deputies gathered additional information over the following days and determined the assault charge was warranted.

Attempts to contact Losaw-Marshall were unsuccessful, leading to the arrest warrant being filed.

Losaw-Marshall was held until Sept. 13, when she was released at CAP court.

She is scheduled to appear in Town of Owasco Court on Sept. 23 at 5 p.m.
