Freetown police seize drugs and guns in raid,1 arrested

FREETOWN — Members of the Freetown Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence on Chace Road this morning, seizing illegal drugs, firearms and other contraband.

Matthew Clark, 32, of Freetown, was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of a Class B substance and possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute.

Clark is scheduled to be arraigned today in Fall River District Court.

Frederick Clark, 46, of Freetown, was not present during the search but is expected to face charges related to the investigation.

Police are seeking an arrest warrant for Frederick Clark on anticipated charges including three counts of possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and receiving stolen property under $1,200.

The warrant service was conducted with assistance from the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team and SEMLEC detectives.

The operation was the result of an investigation by the patrol and detective divisions of the Freetown Police Department.

The search caused temporary traffic disruption on Chace Road, but police said there was no threat to public safety.
