CUMBERLAND — A 35-year-old man was arrested Monday morning after allegedly making violent threats involving a firearm toward a staff member at BF Norton Elementary School during student drop-off.

Frank Blazejewski was taken into custody and charged with assault and disorderly conduct after the incident at the school at 364 Broad Street, according to Cumberland Police Chief Matthew J. Benson.

Several parents and witnesses heard the threat and immediately reported it to police.

Blazejewski was later charged with threatening a public official for additional violent threats made to Cumberland Police personnel while at headquarters.

Police said Blazejewski does not have a child who attends the school and was believed to be passing by when he threatened the staff member.

It is not believed he knew the individual before making the threat.

This marks the 17th time Blazejewski has been arrested by the Cumberland Police Department and represents one of more than 40 arrests he has had in Rhode Island since 2007.

“Mr. Blazejewski is well known to the Cumberland Police Department, and his behavior this morning cannot, and will not, be tolerated,” Benson stated.

Blazejewski will be presented for arraignment at 6th District Court in Providence.
