CAIRO — New York State Police troopers from the Catskill barracks responded to a residence on Route 67 in the Town of Cairo for a report of a burglary in progress Thursday at approximately 5:20 p.m.
The investigation revealed that the victim arrived at the residence and observed an unknown female sitting on the couch holding a pair of scissors.
The female then stood up and walked out of the residence.
Troopers located the female a short distance down the road.
She was taken into custody without incident and transported to SP Catskill for processing.
The individual was later identified as Courtney Jenkins, 36, of Freehold.
Jenkins was charged with burglary in the 1st degree, use or threatened use of a dangerous instrument, a class B felony.
She was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, previous conviction, a class D felony.
Jenkins was arraigned in Cairo Town Court and subsequently turned over to Greene County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
She is scheduled to reappear in Cairo Town Court on Sept. 15 at 10 a.m.
