WALLKILL — Troopers from the New York State Police Middletown barracks responded to a reported road rage incident involving a Town of Wawayanda ambulance on County Route 78 near High Barney Road on Wednesday at approximately 11:36 a.m.
The investigation determined that the victim, a paramedic, was operating an ambulance in emergency mode, with emergency lights activated, en route to an emergency call.
The ambulance legally passed a 2001 Chrysler while responding to the call.
The operator of the Chrysler, identified as Terrill Osborne, age 47, of Middletown, subsequently followed the ambulance, driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed.
Osborne is accused of pulling alongside the ambulance, illegally passing it, and then pulling in front of it in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
These actions obstructed the paramedic from continuing to respond to the emergency call.
Osborne was arrested without incident and processed at SP Middletown.
He was charged with obstructing emergency medical services, a class A misdemeanor; reckless driving, an unclassified misdemeanor; and multiple violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Osborne was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Wawayanda Court on Oct. 9 at 3 p.m.
