BOSTON — Two juvenile males, ages 14 and 16, were arrested on firearm charges Friday evening in the Franklin Field Housing Development, Boston police said.

Officers assigned to District B-3 made the arrests at approximately 6:59 p.m. Sept. 12 following a subject stop in the Mattapan/Dorchester area.

Police were conducting directed patrol in the area due to recent gun violence when they observed a group of six to eight individuals gathered in the courtyard along Westview Way.

Several members of the group wore multiple layers of clothing and face coverings, drawing officers’ attention.

As officers approached on foot, a 14-year-old male separated from the group and displayed nervous behavior, including avoiding eye contact and fidgeting.

Officers conducted a pat frisk, fearing the juvenile might be armed.

During the frisk, they recovered a loaded Glock 44 .22LR handgun with one round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine.

The 14-year-old was immediately taken into custody.

Upon learning that a firearm had been recovered, a 16-year-old male fled the scene.

Officers pursued him through the courtyard and into a nearby building, where he was found attempting to hide.

While retracing his flight path, officers discovered a discarded Taurus G2C 9mm handgun hidden under a bush on Westview Street.

The firearm was loaded with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine.

Both juveniles were transported to District B-3 and will face charges in Dorchester District Court.

The 14-year-old faces charges of carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

The 16-year-old faces the same charges.

Detectives from District B-3 responded to process the scene and take custody of the recovered firearms.
